Plastic and Non-Metallic Stamping of PTFE Stripper & Wear Pads for the Postal Industry
During daily mail sorting operations, the United States Postal Service was experiencing problems with mail jamming in their chutes and guides. Wilmington Fiber was able to provide the plastic and non-metallic products necessary to solve the problem. They produced UHMW polyethylene chute liners, conveyors, punched PTFE strippers, and wear pads to keep the mail flowing. Both PTFE film and sheet and UHMW have excellent wear and low friction properties. Wilmington combined their rotary slitting and converting equipment with high speed die stamping on their OBI punch presses to provide the products in a timely fashion and at an economical price. These non-metallic mail sorting components were manufactured to very tight tolerances of ±0.005″ and underwent dimensional and visual inspections before delivery to the United States Postal Service location in New Castle, DE. Working with demanding customer specifications and 2D CAD drawings, Wilmington Fibre completed the components only three weeks after receipt of the order.
The United States Postal Service creed is “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” Thanks to Wilmington Fibre, you can add chutes and guides jammed with mail. Contact them today for further information.
